What makes a Quality Swim School ?

Critical when Choosing ...

  • The knowledge & experience of the teacher … enables each child to receive guidance & development that is personalised.
  • check
Teacher-pupil ratio … this combined with teacher calibre produces rapid results.
  • A structured learning syllabus … a documented plan with realistic, staged progress steps.
  • Achievement is acknowledged & rewarded … creating interest and enjoyment.
  • check
Depth of water … shallow water results in false confidence which can be fatal.
  • check
The school is ‘child friendly’ … beautiful 34c warm water, an intimate private atmosphere that is non-threatening.
  • check
The condition of facilities, particularly the pool … they should be clean & modern.

Not so Critical  ...

  • How big the pool is … for young children, big is threatening.
  • check
The price of the lesson … education of a life skill is hard to value.
  • check
The location of the school … it may be worth a bit of a longer drive.
  • check
How many outlets the business has … don't believe that this represents experience and scuccess in teaching children.

“We founded The Swim Centre in 1978, 40 years on our passion is teaching children to swim to survive, not building a business empire of many outlets and big pools. Our school is focused on creating the best learning environment for children, which we believe is small classes, where tuition is personal, in a beautifully warm inviting pool, so children are relaxed, not intimated by a big, noisy pool and impersonal environment.” Anne Scanlon Founder & Principal Teacher
